In this position, you will specialize in the care of children with complex congenital cardiac disease. Surgical procedures include repair of congenital heart defects and permanent pacemaker insertion. Medical interventions include management of acute/chronic heart failure, septic shock, renal and respiratory failure. Critically ill children are cared for with such treatment modalities as mechanical ventilation, inhaled nitric oxide, ventricular assist devices, temporary pacemaker therapy, peritoneal dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy and acute hemodialysis.

Duties include utilizing the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care; functioning as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carrying out established nursing care for patients and performs related duties; performing nursing care for patients with more complex needs, with assistance and supervision; and assisting with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.

Requires 2+ years' pediatric cardiac critical care RN experience within the past 3 years OR 2+ years' pediatric transitional care RN experience within the past 3 years and 1 year pediatric cardiac critical care RN experience; current CA RN license; and American Heart Association CPR and PALS certification.

The successful recruit will be appointed to the Stanford University Medical Center Line Professoriate at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.

The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the Medical Center Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Faculty rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
