PRESS RELEASE Royal Brompton consultant appointed President of leading
Royal Brompton Hospital’s director of children’s services and consultant paediatric intensive care specialist, Dr Duncan Macrae, has been appointed President of the Paediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society (PCICS) with immediate effect. PCICS provides an international professional forum to promote excellence in paediatric cardiac critical care medicine. The organisation’s members are healthcare professionals dedicated to acquiring knowledge and improving practice for critically ill children with congenital and acquired heart disease. Dr Macrae is a regular speaker on the international lecture circuit and plays an active role in a number of global organisations. He has worked as a volunteer in China, Romania and Vietnam. As vice-president of the PCICS, Dr Macrae was instrumental in organising its first congress outside the United States, held in Monaco in 2008. Commenting on his appointment, Dr Macrae, said: “I am delighted to be appointed President of PCICS.
