Advanced Practice Provider Special Interest Group (SIG) Update

The PCICS Advanced Practice Provider (APP) SIG continues to meet monthly, networking with APPs across the United States.  We provide learning sessions on topics such as cardiopulmonary interactions, cardiopulmonary bypass and APP Leadership.  The group has also spent time learning about mental health programs for our CICU families, work life balance for the provider, and hot topic sessions on the role of the APP and APP practice challenges.  Basecamp serves as a forum for all APPs to post questions or discuss areas of interest.

We have spent the last year working with a small cohort of individuals interested in APP Mentorship, led by Jill Zender and Christin Diller. We have quarterly meetings to discuss qualities of a good mentor/mentee relationship, APP leadership and, most recently, how to present work at meetings via posters and podium presentations. The group has been broken up in dyads based on interest and meets as needed throughout the year. This group will come to an end in December at our annual meeting in Miami to celebrate their accomplishments in person. We will look to start a new group in the beginning of 2023.
