Connections Committee Update

The PCICS Connections Committee has had a productive year, from launching of the new Society website, to the creation of consistent podcasts and newsletters which have been valued by many. In addition, we are looking forward to and preparing for the first in-person international conference of the Society in 3 years. We plan to cover this meeting and will aim to provide members with content summary and interviews.

The new Society website launched this year, and can be viewed at www.pcics.org. This website launch was the culmination of years of hard work by so many dedicated members and staff, led by Darren Klugman MD and Jill Zender NP. We hope you will find it easier to navigate, and a quick source of useful information related to our field.

At the December 2022 meeting, Jill Zender NP will be completing her three years as co-chair of PCICS’ Connections Committee. I will be staying on to co-chair, along with a new partner, for the next year. The Connections Committee (as well as several other PCICS committees) will meet in-person at the conference in Miami.

Ever considered hosting a podcast?  Enjoy talking to people and asking interesting questions?  The PCICS Podcasting Subcommittee is for you!  It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet other members in the field, ask interesting questions, and build community.  Obligation is recording and editing at least 2 podcasts/ year and attending 3-4 zoom meetings per year.  No experience necessary, we can teach you! Must be a PCICS member.  Interested applicants may contact Deanna Tzanetos

The Newsletter subcommittee (me, Meghna Patel, Kriti Puri and Felina Mille) continue our work this year with renewed commitment, and with plans for exciting new changes in format, in reach, and in invited authorship. Watch this space!

We welcomed 3 new members to this committee this past summer, each with selected subcommittees: Robin Horak MD/CHLA (Social Media), Nicole O’Connor NP/Advocate Health (Social Media), and Danny Gil MD/Children’s Memorial Hermann (Membership). We look forward to working with you all.

Finally, be sure to follow newsletter tweets using the hashtag #PCICSNews, and to follow updates on the annual conference at #PCICS22. Looking forward to a great meeting as usual.
