Early Career and Fellow SIG Update

interior-hero

On behalf of our membership, we would like to introduce Ariya and Raji as the new co-leaders for this SIG. Ariya Nu Chau completed her pediatrics residency at UC Irvine/Children’s Hospital of Orange County and critical care medicine fellowship at CHLA. She is completing a pediatric cardiac critical care fellowship at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford this month and will stay on as CICU faculty. Raji Venkitachalam is a pediatric cardiac intensivist and cardiologist at Children’s Wisconsin, Milwaukee. She completed her medical school at Cochin Medical College in India, pediatrics residency at John H Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, followed by pediatric critical care and cardiology fellowships at Children’s Wisconsin in Milwaukee.

We are keen to provide a forum for the fellows and early career faculty to meet, network, and collaborate. We are especially looking forward to bringing people from different backgrounds to collaborate and support each other for growth and success. We plan to build on the wonderful work initiated by the prior leadership. We have plenty of webinars/networking opportunities planned for our members this year. Our first webinar is almost here!! We can’t also wait to meet everyone at the PCICS conference in San Diego this year.

First virtual webinar for the year:

Date: June 11th, 2024, 12pm PST

Title: Acknowledging The “Bright” And “Dark” Sides of Pediatric Critical Care

Presenter: Dr. Lara Nelson

Some of our other SIG goals:

  1. Create a platform for fostering camaraderie and peer networking for the SIG members.
  2. Provide opportunities to connect with the PCICS leadership for mentorship.
  3. Periodic webinars/panel discussions regarding topics chosen by the SIG members and pertaining to early career success.
  4. Member spotlights during the webinars.
  5. Create a database of members’ clinical and research projects to facilitate collaboration.
