Fellow & Early Career Special Interest Group Update

We are so proud of how the Fellow/Early Career Physician SIG has grown! Over the past year, we have seen our membership increase to over 65 early career and fellow PCICS members and are excited to welcome more! The SIG has hosted several conversations, including “How to Give Effective Feedback,” “How to Find Your Focus,”” Group Mentorship,” “Expectations of New Faculty,” and most recently “How to Make a Smooth Transition.” We are grateful to all the mid- and senior PCICS members who have offered their mentorship and guidance (and humor!) to these sessions.
We are also invested in other ways to contribute to the PCICS community, with plans to organize an Early Career Preconference for the World Congress/PCICS joint meeting in 2023. Dr. Marcos Mills is also leading a subgroup of the SIG in the creation of a collection of landmark CVICU articles that complement clinical care.
At the 2022 PCICS Annual Conference in Miami, we will be hosting a happy hour/reception session for all SIG members on Saturday 12/17/22. During the reception, we will facilitate informal panel discussions on the heartfelt and fun topic of “How to Enjoy the Journey.”
We welcome all residents, fellows, early career, and really anyone who may be supported by these topics to join us – at a future meeting or at a SIG event at PCICS in December! Please share your email to be added to our listserv and notified of meetings. Email: vsurma@childrensnational.org, rodriguezz@kidsheart.com, or npurkey@stanford.edu.
