Finance Committee Update

The PCICS Finance Committee is charged with overseeing the finances, budget, and fiscal operations of the society. We have had a very successful year in 2023 with strong financial health despite not having an annual meeting this year. This has enabled the Society to begin the investments necessary to ensure more opportunities, educational resources, and development of programs to broaden our reach now and in the future. We have been able to support the establishment of the PCIC Foundation, which will allow us to support nursing, allied health, and providers from low- and middle-income countries to have access to PCICS education and resources. We were able to support a very successful and well-attended social event at the 8th World Congress of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery in Washington, D.C., which also helped to raise funds for the PCIC Foundation. We have also been able to support the creation of more educational offerings, webinars, courses, and other resources than ever before in PCICS history. We made several strategic investments to ensure that our resources are protected and able to grow before we use them. Finally, we are excited to support the establishment of the Latin American chapter of PCICS, which will help broaden our membership and our ability to support meetings in Central and South America.

None of these accomplishments would have been possible without our group of heavily invested members and volunteers who give so much time and effort to PCICS. Our finance committee is so grateful to the hard work of the outgoing Finance Committee Co-Chair, Dr. Michael Fundora, who was instrumental in creating a 5-year financial plan for our society, improving our overall investment strategies, bringing in many important PCICS supporters, and ensuring that we are able to meet our mission. Finally, we would like to welcome our new Finance Committee members this year, Dr. Shilpa Vellore, Dr. Christopher Jenks, and Michelle Grandberry. We also welcome Dr. Laura Miller-Smith, who will join PCICS Treasurer, Dr. David Werho, as the newest Finance Committee Co-Chair.
