Ranjit M Aiyagari, MD, FACC
How long have you been a member of PCICS?
3 months
Why did you choose the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care field ?
It is intellectually challenging, procedural, and requires a deep understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamics.
Please list a few of your most recent accomplishments:
I have been spending much of my time in Informatics for the last few years. I recently attained secondary board certification in Clinical Informatics, and last month I was named Chief Medical Information Officer for The University of Michigan Health System (Michigan Medicine).
Why did you join PCICS?
Although my clinical and research time is limited, I still enjoy pediatric cardiac critical care and want to be up to date on the latest research and best practices. Also I enjoy the opportunity to see some fantastic colleagues from around the world.
Short Biography:
I trained in Pediatrics at UCSF and in Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Interventional Cardiology, and Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care at the University of Michigan. I have been on the Michigan Medicine Pediatric Cardiology faculty (at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor) since 2006 and am currently a Clinical Associate Professor. My recent area of research focus is in end-of-life care for incurable conditions in the PCICU setting. I have also been involved heavily in Clinical Informatics and have been the Chief Medical Information Officer for the health system since 2016. I live in Ann Arbor with my wife Stacey (who is a Pediatric Emergency Physician), my daughter Leela (11), and my son Jay (7). I am a frequent tennis player.
