Research Committee August 2020 Update

Brad Marino and Jean Connor would like to recognize Anna Fisk and Catherine Krawczeski as the current co-chairs of the Research Committees Scientific Review:

Catherine Krawczeski, MD is Division Chief of Pediatric Cardiology and Co-Director of the Heart Center at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She is also a Professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine.   Catherine completed fellowships in pediatric cardiology and pediatric critical care medicine at Washington University in St. Louis in 2000 and was a very early member of PCICS. She has been involved in multiple committees within PCICS, including the Research Subcommittee, the Financial Subcommittee, the Connections Subcommittee, and was on the Board of Directors from 2015-2018. She has also participated in session planning, session moderating, and as an invited speaker for several PCICS meetings. As a clinician scientist and a former fellowship program director, Catherine has a strong commitment to teaching, research and mentoring. Her goals, as a co-chair of the PCICS Scientific Review Committee, are to increase trainee and ancillary health participation in PCICS, particularly in the research aspects of the organization, and to enhance the scientific content of the meeting.
Anna Fisk RN PhD CCRN-K is the Clinical Coordinator of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at Boston Children’s Hospital. She has over 30 years of pediatric cardiac intensive care nursing experience with an interest in both education and research. She received her PhD in Nursing Research at Medical University of South Carolina. Her research interest is congenital and acquired heart disease, particularity in the pediatric cardiac intensive care unit examining topics such as laboratory utilization, parent perception of their role in the CICU, endotracheal suctioning, and cardiac arrest. At Boston Children’s Hospital she co-chairs the Heart Center Quality Committee, a member of BCH Nursing Scientific Review, chair of CICU QI committee, and CICU adverse event reporting.  She has been a member of PCICS for more than 10 years participating in session planning, session moderating and sharing her research. As co-chair of the PCICS Scientific Review Committee, Anna is committed to furthering the strong scientific content that has exemplified PCICS. As a nurse scientist and experienced CICU staff member, Anna will bring that perspective to the interprofessional dialogue as the committee works together to advance the science of pediatric cardiac intensive care.
