Treasurer’s Message

Only two more months until we are FINALLY back in person in sunny Miami for our annual meeting! Excited is an understatement! The conference agenda developed by the Program Committee, under the leadership of Christin Diller and Jason Buckley, looks phenomenal and we hope you are planning to attend. The conference will open with a panel-based plenary session focused on defining excellence in the CICU. Friday will begin with a session highlighting and celebrating the experienced bedside nurse, including presentation of the first ever PCICS Nursing Excellence awards! Don’t forget to add on one of the three pre-conference sessions, which include four-hour sessions on ECMO and Nutrition, and an eight-hour educational session for advanced nurses, APPs, and fellows, which will include exciting, hands-on simulation-based breakouts.
PCICS anticipates closing out 2022 in a state of improved financial health and we remain on track to fulfill the five-year financial plan we developed in 2021! We are very grateful to the many exhibitors and supporters of the upcoming annual meeting, and for the support of Traphagen CPAs and Wealth Advisors, who have partnered with PCICS for the next three years. Looking ahead to 2023, PCICS will continue to use our new Learning Management System so members can remain engaged, connect, and learn throughout the year. Learning opportunities will include webinars, the APP Curriculum courses, new Nursing Curriculum courses, a Quality Improvement primer, and much more. In addition, the Finance Committee has been working on the activation of the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Foundation. Currently, the PCICS Board of Directors is in the process of appointing Trustees to the Foundation Board of Trustees. The Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Foundation is an opportunity for members or non-members, including patients, families, medical or pharmaceutical industry partners, and others to make tax-deductible donations to support education, research, and clinical outreach in the field of pediatric cardiac critical care. We anticipate Foundation activities will begin in early 2023.
For me, Fall is the season in which I briefly enjoy the beautiful changing leaves, make sure I attend one obligatory Fall Festival, and then immediately begin wishing for Spring (#Ihatewinter). However, this year I will be looking forward to seeing everyone in Miami very soon!
