This year’s meeting venue was within two blocks of the Mediterranean beaches. The food in Barcelona was wonderful. In addition to the delightful setting and cuisine, the meeting highlights included many excellent presentations and interesting science. The PCICS was well represented; members gave many excellent talks and abstract presentations.
On the opening day, Monday, July 17, former PCICS President Paul Checchia gave a well attended talk as a keynote speaker about the PCICS as a Global Organization for Change (see photo 1). On July 18, PCICS sponsored a very well received luncheon of 200-300 attendees (see photo 2) with keynote speaker Dr. Gil Wernovsky, who spoke about the evolution of pediatric cardiac intensive care and the importance of the PCICS (see photo 3). Also at the luncheon, PCICS President Sandra Stavenski gave an overview of our organization (see photo 4).
