Program Committee Update

Over the past few months, the PCICS Board of Directors and management team have considered a number of different options for how to best approach our annual meeting scheduled for Miami in December 2020. We have followed the COVID-19 pandemic trends closely, surveyed our membership, and canvassed a wide variety of stakeholders.  We are aware of the restrictions that many children’s hospitals have placed on professional travel due to safety and/or financial concerns. After a great deal of thought, we have decided to reformat our annual meeting into an all-virtual format for 2020. We realize that our time as a Society in Miami Beach often leads to great collaboration and a shared sense of excitement around cardiac critical care. However, we are excited to still offer a robust academic program along with a cutting-edge science component. Many of our originally planned sessions will still be delivered and we will offer opportunities for networking and asking questions of our esteemed speakers. We would encourage our membership to continue to submit abstracts and plan to attend our virtual sessions. The biggest difference is that now, at the end of the day, instead of a cold Mojito on sunny Miami Beach, you can enjoy everything from the safe comfort of your office or home – and still have the Mojito! If you do have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to either of the Program Committee Co-Chairs. We look forward to “seeing” everyone in December.
