Finance Committee Update

The PCICS Finance Committee is charged with oversight of our society’s resources and planning for our financial health.  We are very excited to add new members to our committee and would like to thank the members who are rolling off for their hard work and contributions. Our newest positions are Finance Liaison members, who share the responsibility of connecting our projects and other committees’ activities with our budget and financial resources. Dr. Shilpa Vellore Govardhan (Rady Children’s Hospital) has joined the Finance Committee as our Liaison to Education member, and Dr. Laura Miller-Smith (Doernbecher Children’s Hospital) is our Liaison to Connections. We also welcome Michelle Grandberry, MSN, RN, CCRN, (LeBonheur Children’s Hospital) and Dr. Christopher Jenks (Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center) to the Finance Committee as our newest at-large members. We’d like to thank Dr. Sujata Chakravarti (Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital) for her years of service on the Finance Committee.

The Finance Committee is currently working on several initiatives. In addition to finalizing our annual budget and 5-year financial plans, we are working closely with the newly launched PCIC Foundation, led by Amy Donnellan, DNP, CPNP-AC (Cincinnati Children’s Hospital), as they begin their work fundraising for various initiatives to advance cardiac critical care in low- and middle-income countries. We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has donated to the Foundation either through the website or in-person at our Member Appreciation Social at the 8^th World Congress of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery in Washington, D.C. in August. We are also working on reviewing proposals from various financial advisors and investment firms to help manage our funds and optimize the growth of our assets for years to come.
